EE NKUMU WABILEKO O YAMBA by George Okurut & Camilus Oketch — Lyrics
About EE NKUMU WABILEKO O YAMBA
"Ee Nkumu Wabileko O Yamba" is a vibrant Offertory hymn that brings the rhythmic energy of Congolese worship straight into the choir loft. Arranged with a thoughtful cross-cultural touch, the piece seamlessly blends Lingala with Igbo praise. As the choir sings of bringing offerings to the Father—specifically the bread and wine ("mapa na vino")—the Igbo refrain calls on all children of the world to thank God ("Ụmụwa niile kelee Chineke").
The arrangement is built for a lively procession. After the initial call, the voices layer over one another in a rhythmic chant of "mabonza" (offerings) and "keleya" (praise Him). This repetition creates a steady, uplifting momentum that naturally encourages the congregation to step forward with their gifts.
With its seven verses, the song makes sure everyone is included in the offering—calling on the fathers, mothers, priests, brothers, sisters, and the youth to bring their gifts to the altar. It is a wonderful choice for a festive Mass, turning the presentation of the gifts into a true celebration of community and thanksgiving.
