Kyrie Magne Deus (tr93) I

The Mass setting Kyrie Magne Deus, for two voices (ST), opens with a plea to God, the great power, who liberates humanity from the transgression of His commandment. The text then turns to Christ, the true host of the highest Father, our salvation and life. The setting concludes with a return to the Kyrie, invoking Christ as Emmanuel, born man, who restores what the first man, Adam, lost. The Latin text is a solemn expression of penitence and hope within the liturgical tradition of the Mass.
