About Kyrie, Apt 10
The familiar plea "Lord, have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy" forms the text of this Kyrie. Sung in Greek, it is the first of the five movements of the Ordinary of the Mass. This setting by Guymont is written for a vocal quartet of two tenors and two basses (ATT). It is a straightforward and devotional setting of this ancient plea, suitable for liturgical use or as a moving concert item.
