About Komm, Gott Schöpfer
Balthasar Resinarius's Komm, Gott Schöpfer is a sacred motet for SATB choir, sung in German. The text is a prayer to the Holy Spirit, invoking him as comforter, divine unction, a living spring, love and fire. It asks for spiritual enlightenment, fervent love and God's strengthening grace. The composer petitions the Spirit to banish the enemy's cunning and to grant peace, so that humanity may willingly follow divine guidance. The music is likely to reflect the earnest and devotional nature of the German lyrics.
