The German text paints a tender scene of a little child being sung to sleep. It invokes a gentle pastoral image of sheep outside, while inside the stable, Mary cradles her beloved child, accompanied by the singing of Seraphim and Cherubim. This sacred motet for SATB choir captures this intimate lullaby with devotional warmth.
