JUBILATE DEO OMNIS TERRA by Taize — Lyrics
About JUBILATE DEO OMNIS TERRA
"Jubilate Deo Omnis Terra" is a vibrant, uplifting chant from the Taizé community, perfectly suited for the joy of the Easter season. Drawing its text from Psalm 66, the song calls all of creation to cry out with gladness to God. In the choir loft, this piece comes alive through its layered simplicity. The main choir establishes a steady, joyful ostinato in Latin—"Jubilate Deo omnis terra"—creating a rich bed of harmony that anchors the entire piece.
Over this continuous choral refrain, cantors or soloists proclaim the English verses, recounting the mighty works of the Lord, from turning the sea into dry land to the ultimate triumph of the Resurrection. The alternating male and female solo verses give the arrangement a dynamic, conversational feel that keeps the congregation engaged while the choir maintains the meditative chant.
Because of its triumphant "Alleluia" and explicit themes of resurrection, it is an excellent choice for an Entrance hymn or a joyful meditation during Eastertide Masses. The repetitive nature of the Taizé style allows both the singers and the congregation to internalize the joy of the season, building in praise with every passing verse.
