Jesu, värdes hos oss bliva by Oscar Sandberg — Lyrics
Jesu, värdes hos oss bliva,
Var vårt ljus i mörkrets dal!
Värdes ur vårt hjärta driva
Syndens nöd och ångerns kval!
Från ditt ord vi aldrig vike!
Komme, Gud, till oss ditt rike!
Låt oss se, när morgon flammar
Över Salems höjd en gång,

About Jesu, värdes hos oss bliva
This Swedish anthem, Jesu, värdes hos oss bliva, is a prayer for divine guidance and light in times of darkness and struggle. The text pleads for Jesus to remain with the singers, to drive out sin and sorrow, and to bring God's kingdom. It expresses a longing for a future where all nations will praise God and the Lamb, guided by Christ as the morning star towards a place of eternal light, free from night. Oscar Sandberg’s setting for SATB choir captures the earnest devotion of the lyrics, offering a poignant and hopeful message for sacred occasions.
