Jesu, ma rhowee..

"Jesu, ma rhowee.." is a vibrant Edo song of praise and thanksgiving. The title translates to a joyful declaration of worship to Jesus, acknowledging Him as the Father who deserves all honour. In the choir loft, this piece brings an immediate lift to the liturgy, driven by its rhythmic vitality and deep reverence.

The text reflects on the core of the Christian mystery—how Christ came from heaven ("U k'ẹrinmwin re") and shed His blood to save us ("U na ye'sagien wẹ do mimafan"). Because of this profound sacrifice, the choir bursts into repeated chants of "Ekpọnmwẹn" (thanksgiving) and "Urhomwẹn" (praise). This makes it an excellent choice for the Offertory, as the congregation brings their gifts in gratitude, or as a lively Recessional to send the people forth with a spirit of joy.

Written in solfa notation by V. I. Ihaza, the piece builds momentum through repeating phrases and overlapping harmonies.
