Jesu Christe auctor vitae

This setting of Jesu Christe auctor vitae unfolds with a clear, imitative texture, the SATB voices engaging in a well-crafted dialogue that emphasizes the sacred Latin text. Sixt Dietrich crafts a devotional musical response to a hymn that invokes Christ as the author of life, crediting him with washing away Adam’s sin through his blood and granting Mary Magdalene the fruit of penitence. The composer’s handling of the vocal lines allows for both clarity of text and a rich, blended sonority, making this a compelling choice for liturgical settings or choral concerts seeking profound spiritual expression. Its sacred character and hymn-like qualities make it suitable for thoughtful contemplation.
