Je me veulx tant

L'Huyllier's Je me veulx tant paints a poignant scene of resigned devotion. The words express a deep surrender to the beloved's will, so absolute that even suffering becomes a source of solace. The singer finds a strange sweetness in their lover's pleasure at their pain, accepting their malady as their destiny. This secular French chanson for SATB choir captures the intricate emotional landscape of unrequited or demanding love. Its harmonic language and contrapuntal interest would have been typical of the genre, offering rich possibilities for expressive interpretation by a choir.
