Je ly au coeur

Maximilian Guilliaud’s Je lis au coeur is a delightful French chanson for SATT choir, perfect for an intimate concert setting or a gathering of friends. The composer captures the delicate interplay of affection and playful teasing in his setting of this secular text. The lyrics express a lover's awareness of their beloved's desire for their company, while simultaneously acknowledging that prolonged waiting can lead to boredom. Guilliaud’s four-part writing likely reflects these nuances with sensitivity, offering a charming exploration of romantic sentiment in a lighter vein. This work provides an excellent opportunity for choirs to showcase their expressive capabilities and engage with the rich tradition of French secular song.
