IRUELE MARIA (Hail Mary)

"Iruele Maria" is a gentle, rhythmic setting of the Hail Mary prayer in the Etsako language, composed by Obioha Ogbonna. For choirs looking to expand their Marian repertoire with indigenous Nigerian languages, this piece offers a beautifully structured and deeply prayerful option. It is especially fitting for May and October devotions, feasts of the Blessed Virgin, or as a reflective communion meditation.

The arrangement is built around a flowing, melodic chorus that the whole choir sings together, anchoring the congregation in the familiar rhythm of the angelic salutation. Between these refrains, the verses unfold with distinct character. The first and third verses are led by the soprano line, carrying the petitions for Mary's intercession.
