About Incenerit' e'l' petto
Pomponio Nenna's madrigal Incenerit' e'l' petto paints a vivid picture of love's consuming fire. The text expresses a heart scorched by sweet ardour, languishing in misery and painful affection. The singer or singers explore the overwhelming flood of bitter emotion that engulfs them, comparing their heart to a new Phaeton. This SATTB work, set in Italian, captures the intense suffering that follows the sweet torment of amorous flames, culminating in tears and death.
