I-na I-na (Holy, Holy. In Igala)

"I-na I-na" is a vibrant Igala setting of the Sanctus, paired here with "Ata Kpai Oma," a rhythmic recitation of the Creed. Composed by Jude Nnam, this manuscript brings two central parts of the Mass into the linguistic and musical idiom of the Igala people. The Sanctus opens with a majestic call to the Almighty ("Odobogagwu"), leading the congregation into the Eucharistic prayer with deep reverence.

The second half of the score transitions into the Creed, structured as a call-and-response. As the verses recount the articles of faith—from the creation of heaven and earth to the resurrection—the choir and congregation unite in the recurring refrain, "Ata kpai Oma, kpai afuina medojima nwojo" (giving glory to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). This structure makes the profession of faith highly engaging, allowing the assembly to actively participate in affirming their beliefs.

Choirs will find this arrangement particularly useful for festive Masses and special liturgical celebrations where indigenous languages take center stage. The straightforward solfa notation and the repetitive, driving responses ensure that both the choir and the congregation can easily pick up the melody, creating a powerful moment of shared worship during the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
