Alleluja. In exitu Israël de Aegypto, domus Jacob de populo barbaro,
facta est Judaea sanctificatio ejus; Israël potestas ejus.
Mare vidit, et fugit; Jordanis conversus est retrorsum.
Montes exsultaverunt ut arietes, et colles sicut agni ovium.

About In exitu proprii toni
This motet sets a Latin text that vividly recounts the Israelites' exodus from Egypt. The music draws on Psalm 113, describing the miraculous parting of the Red Sea and the Jordan River, and the mountains leaping for joy. The composer, Horatio Colombano, evokes the awe of these events, culminating in the humble plea for God's glory to be given, not to us, but to His name. This SATTB setting of the Vesper Psalm is scored for a full choir, allowing for rich harmonic and textural possibilities as it portrays the divine power and mercy described in the text.
