In Eternity

Jens Klimek's setting of In Eternity for SATB voices opens with a gentle, flowing texture, quickly establishing a sense of timelessness. The composer uses the choir to create a warm, resonant sound world, with the voices often moving in homophony before opening out into more expansive harmonies. The English text explores profound theological ideas about the nature of eternity, contrasting it with the linear progression of time. It suggests that the soul, as eternal spirit, transcends temporal constraints, already experiencing eternity in the present moment. Klimek's music beautifully captures the meditative and uplifting quality of the words, offering a contemplative experience for both choir and listeners.
