In bianco letto by Giovan Nasco — Lyrics
In bianco letto all’apparir del giorno
Con le chiome d’or fin disciolt’e sparse,
Tutta d’avorio e rose
Viddi colei che’l cor m’accese et arse,
Cui le gratie et amor ridean intorno.

About In bianco letto
Giovan Nasco's In bianco letto is a secular Italian madrigal for SATB choir. The music opens with a gentle unfolding of the text's imagery, with the voices weaving together to depict a lover's awakening. The composer captures the sensuous atmosphere of the scene, as the poet observes his beloved in bed at dawn. The text describes her golden hair, ivory skin, and rosy lips, and hints at a tender, intimate gesture. Nasco's setting enhances the erotic and emotional intensity of the words, exploring the overwhelming effect of beauty and desire on the observer. The madrigal's intricate vocal lines and expressive harmonies create a vivid musical portrayal of passionate love.
