Im Walde by Hans Michel Schletterer — Lyrics
Im Walde möcht' ich leben,
zur heißen Sommerzeit.
Der Wald, der kann uns geben,
viel Lust und Fröhlichkeit!
In seinen kühlen Schatten
winkt jeder Zweig und Ast;
das Vöglein auf den Matten
nickt mir: Komm, lieber Gast!

About Im Walde
Hans Michel Schletterer's Im Walde is a delightful German setting for three-part women's voices. The text conjures up a vibrant image of woodland life, speaking of the joy and merriment one can find in its cool shade during the summer. It paints a picture of birds flitting through the branches and deer leaping joyfully. The music reflects this cheerful atmosphere, with the voices imitative of the birdsong described in the lyrics, creating a light and engaging texture. This charming piece is ideal for a choir seeking a bright and evocative secular work that captures the beauty and liveliness of nature.
