"Ijoba Orun" is a deeply moving Yoruba prayer-song that focuses on the ultimate goal of the Christian journey: reaching the Kingdom of Heaven. The title translates to "The Kingdom of Heaven," and the lyrics serve as an earnest plea for God's guidance and safe passage. With its famous central metaphor, "Aiyé l'ọjà, Ọ̀run n'ílé" (The world is a marketplace, Heaven is our home), the piece reminds singers and congregations alike that our time on earth is temporary, and our true reward lies in eternal life.
