Iam surrexit Dominus by Balduin Hoyoul — Lyrics
About Iam surrexit Dominus
Balduin Hoyoul was a German composer of the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. This sacred motet, Iam surrexit Dominus, is set in Latin and is scored for SATTBB choir. The text is drawn from the Gospel accounts of the Resurrection, proclaiming that the Lord has risen as he said and inviting the disciples to come and see the place where he lay. It continues to instruct them to tell his disciples and Peter that he will go before them into Galilee, where they will see him. The music would have been intended for liturgical use, its five vocal parts offering rich harmonic possibilities to convey the joy and wonder of the Easter message.
