I will arise by Robert Creighton — Lyrics
I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
About I will arise
Robert Creighton’s anthem I will arise is set for SATB choir. The text, drawn from the parable of the Prodigal Son, expresses profound repentance and a plea for humble acceptance. The music reflects this journey, moving from a place of deep contrition to one of hope and seeking forgiveness. This sacred work offers a powerful devotional experience for choir and congregation alike, suitable for services focused on themes of sin, redemption, and God's boundless mercy. The direct and heartfelt nature of the English text makes its message universally understood and deeply moving.
