About Hymn
This is a setting for SATB choir of a Danish text, likely intended for congregational use or as a devotional anthem. The lyrics express a profound turning away from earthly troubles and desires towards divine solace and strength. The text speaks of finding peace and quenching spiritual thirst at God's fountain of life. It then moves to a prayer for spiritual uplift, a yearning to ascend towards the divine light where darkness dissipates, free from earthly bonds and able to fly towards God's kingdom. Helena Munktell's composition offers a sacred musical expression of this deeply personal and hopeful devotional journey.
