About Hormai la notte
Claudio Saracini's Hormai la notte is a secular aria for solo soprano. The text, in Italian, describes the poet's longing for his beloved, particularly during the night. He finds little solace in dreams and expresses his torment through song, comparing his suffering to that of a dying bird. Yet, even in his pain, he finds a certain sweetness, anticipating the possibility of his beloved looking upon him, willing to embrace death if it means being seen by her.
