Hic Petrus est by Daniel Friderici — Lyrics
Hic Petrus est, qui de petra, te Christe, fatetur,
Quod sis aeterni viva propago Dei.
About Hic Petrus est
The words of this motet paint a scene of profound affirmation. Hic Petrus est, qui de petra, te Christe, fatetur, Quod sis aeterni viva propago Dei translates to 'This is Peter, who from the rock confesses you, Christ, to be the living offspring of the eternal God.' Daniel Friderici sets this powerful Latin text for two sopranos. This sacred motet, likely intended for liturgical use, offers a moment of musical reflection on faith and divine truth, sung in two-part harmony.
