He leadeth me by Cleland Boyd McAfee — Lyrics
1 He leadeth me: O blessed thought!
O words with heavenly comfort fraught!
Whate'er I do, where'er I be,
still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me.
Refrain:
He leadeth me, he leadeth me;
by his own hand he leadeth me:
his faithful follower I would be,
for by his hand he leadeth me.
2 Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom,
sometimes where Eden's flowers bloom,

About He leadeth me
This well-loved hymn tune, He leadeth me, has been arranged for SATB choir, setting the familiar words of a sacred text expressing trust and reliance on divine guidance. The English lyrics speak of God's constant presence through all of life's circumstances, from moments of deep sorrow to periods of joy and peace. The music likely reflects the comforting and steadfast nature of the text, suitable for services of devotion or reflection. The arrangement invites a choir to convey the profound assurance found in the message that even in death, one is led by a faithful hand.
