God is Love by Harry Rowe Shelley — Lyrics
1 God is Love; His mercy brightens
All the path in which we rove;
Bliss He wakes and woe He lightens:
God is wisdom, God is love.
2 Chance and change are busy ever;
Man decays, and ages move;
But His mercy waneth never:
God is wisdom, God is love.

About God is Love
Harry Rowe Shelley's anthem God is Love is a setting of familiar English words exploring the constancy of divine affection. The text, which opens with the assertion that God is Love, emphasizes that this love provides guidance, alleviates suffering, and remains steadfast through the passage of time and human frailty. The SATB choir voices are employed to convey the comforting message that even in dark times, God's goodness and glory shine through, offering hope and solace from above. Shelley's composition offers a reflection on divine wisdom and unwavering mercy, suitable for sacred services.
