God is a Spirit

David Hugh Jones sets words from the Gospel of John for SSAATTBB choir. The text expresses the spiritual nature of worship and God. The composer's setting emphasizes the devotional aspect of the scripture, calling for worship 'in spirit and in truth.' This motet is a fine example of sacred choral music, suitable for liturgical occasions or concert programs where a reflective and profound text is desired. The six-part voicing allows for rich harmonic textures and contrapuntal possibilities, enhancing the serene and reverent message of the text.
