About Go speed thy flight
Franz Otto's Go speed thy flight is a secular part-song for TTBB male voices, written in English. The text paints a picture of a lover sending a gentle evening breeze to carry his affections to his beloved far across the sea. He asks the breeze to convey the scent of springtime and to gently disturb her hair, before he himself prepares to send his lute to bear his song. The imagined dialogue between the lover and the breeze is tender and filled with longing, as he implores the breeze to return with tidings of his love's thoughts and words.
