The sacred text for this SATB motet proclaims the glory of Zion, the city of God. Its foundations are laid on holy mountains, and the Lord loves its gates above all the dwellings of Jacob. The words speak of past peoples and princes, recalling the rich history of this divine city, and conclude with a joyous affirmation that all who dwell within it are as glad as in their own homes.
