Gloria in Excelsis - Morgan by Thurlow Weed — Lyrics
Glory to God! the heav'ns adore!
Let earth resound God's praise therefore;
Author of peace forevermore!
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
Christ, God's own Son, the Lamb once slain,
salvation sure from sin to gain;
whose love cannot the world contain!
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

About Gloria in Excelsis - Morgan
Thurlow Weed's Gloria in Excelsis is a powerful setting of a familiar liturgical text. Scored for SATB choir, this anthem draws on the rich tradition of English sacred music. The text itself is a jubilant expression of praise and supplication, moving from the heavenly adoration of "Glory to God" to a confident affirmation of Christ's sacrifice and a heartfelt prayer for mercy and care. The recurring "Alleluia" provides moments of ecstatic praise, driving home the piece's message of unwavering devotion and gratitude. This work is well-suited for congregational singing or as a significant anthem within a larger service.
