About Giunto è pur Lidia il mio

This is a secular madrigal for SSATB voices in Italian by Antonio Cifra. The text expresses the pain of parting from a loved one, Lidia. The singer faces an agonizing choice between leaving and dying, realizing that to leave Lidia is indeed to die. He begs for a final kiss and farewell, watching Lidia weep as he departs, yet feeling himself bound to her. He leaves his heart with her as a pledge, but states that since she is imprinted on his heart, he cannot live without it. He wishes she could come with him, or he could somehow take her with him, so that he would have both his heart and her, who is his heart.
