About Già Ninfa hor voce
This secular Italian madrigal for six voices (SATTBB) sets a poem of unrequited love and despair. The words describe a nymph, a mere echo, who feeds on the singer's laments. As he cries out for respite from his suffering, the nymph's only response is to mock him with shouts of 'Empio!' (Wicked!) and 'Mori!' (Die!).
