OH MOTHER IMMACULATE

"Oh Mother Immaculate" is a tender Marian hymn that calls on the Blessed Virgin's intercession. Composed by Abraham Uke, the piece was originally dedicated to his mother and written for the students of Handmaid Girls College in Obudu. It carries the gentle, earnest feel of a school choir offering their voices in devotion, making it a fitting choice for May crowning, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, or any Marian feast day.

The song is built on four verses that walk through familiar Catholic prayers and teachings—from Mary's sinless birth and her obedience to the classic petitions of the Hail Mary and the Sub Tuum Praesidium ("We fly to your protection"). Following the verses, the choir moves into a polyphonic chorus where the voices weave together, echoing pleas for Mary to "pray for us sinners."
