This German motet for SATB voices opens with a joyful exultation, echoing the Christmas story of Christ's birth. The music moves with energy, depicting the wonder of the angels and the profound mystery of the Incarnation. The text, a hymn of praise, celebrates Jesus as the unique Son of the Eternal Father, born of a virgin. It rejoices in his humility, lying in Mary's lap, the one who sustains all creation. The composer, anonymous, skillfully weaves the four vocal parts together, creating a rich texture that at times unfolds with independent melodic lines and at others moves in homophonic splendor. The recurring "Kyrieleis" refrain adds a plea for mercy and reinforces the devotional character of this sacred work.
