About Gaudeamus II
André Vierendeels’ Gaudeamus II is a sacred work for SATB choir in Latin. The text, based on a Marian antiphon, invites joyful celebration in the Lord. The opening line, 'Gaudeamus omnes in Domino diem festum celebrantes,' sets a festive and devotional tone. The piece can be adapted to various occasions, with different textual variants provided for celebrating the Blessed Virgin Mary (her Assumption or Nativity), All Saints, Saint Stephen, or Saint Thomas the Martyr.
