This motet by Jacob Meiland sets words from the Bible, urging the listener to fear God and keep His commandments, for He will bring all deeds, hidden or open, to judgment. The text is a solemn reminder of divine accountability. Meiland's setting for SATTB choir unfolds the weighty message with gravitas, drawing the singers and listeners into a profound reflection on faith and righteousness. The German lyrics are treated with serious musical consideration, reflecting the sacred nature of the text and its place within the tradition of Lutheran motets. This work offers directors a powerful statement for a choir.
