About Fratres expurgate vetus fermentum
Sung during the Easter season, this motet by Alexander Utendal draws on liturgical texts relating to the Passover and the sacrifice of Christ. The composer sets the words of St Paul from 1 Corinthians, urging the choir to cast out the old leaven of malice and wickedness and to feast on the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
