About Fra belle Ninfe
Giovanni de Macque was a Flemish composer who spent much of his career in Italy, writing in the Italian madrigal tradition. This secular piece for SSATTB voices sets a delightful Italian text. The poem describes a scene in a meadow adorned with colourful flowers, where a beautiful nymph, akin to Diana, leads joyful dances. Her face exudes sweetness, grace, honesty, and valor, captivating all who gaze upon her.
