FOR BETTER FOR WORSE

"For Better For Worse" is a joyous, custom-written wedding anthem by Azuine-Uche Bruno, originally composed for the marriage of Roseline and Justin. It takes the traditional, spoken marriage vows—promising love in sickness and health, riches and poverty—and transforms them into a bright choral celebration. When a choir sings these familiar words from the loft, it feels as though the entire church is echoing the couple's promises back to them in prayer and support.

The verses draw beautifully from Scripture to ground the sacrament in faith. The choir sings of the Lord's banquet hall where "His banner over us is love," and recalls the creation story with the profound recognition of "bone of my bone and the flesh of my flesh." It is a fitting piece for a Nuptial Mass, especially during the signing of the register or as a thanksgiving hymn, reminding everyone present that what God has joined together, let no man put asunder.
