Brahms masterfully contrasts this with a vision of a safe haven, a place of rest for those not caught in the storm. The setting is a poignant reflection on peril and peace, exploring the emotional landscape of isolation and the yearning for security. The German text, by Georg Friedrich Daumer, is based on a Persian original by Hafis.
