About FILM ANTHEM (Laudate Dominum)
This vibrant choral anthem was originally born in the 1990s as a welcoming piece for a choir festival at St. Albert’s Catholic Church, UNIBEN. Over the years, it grew into a beloved gathering song for Catholic students across Nigeria, calling singers from various higher institutions to unite in worship. The English verses carry a bright, conversational tone, inviting everyone to lift their voices with "one heart, one mind and one voice."
As the piece develops, it transitions from its joyful English invitation into a majestic Latin climax. The choir breaks into "Laudate Dominum, omnes populi" (Praise the Lord, all you peoples), layering the voices as the different parts enter one by one. It is a wonderful choice for choral festivals, joint campus Masses, and special celebrations where multiple choirs come together to sing as one.
