Fili mi, ne neglexeris by Antoine Brumel — Lyrics
About Fili mi, ne neglexeris
This motet for two lower voices, TB, sets a Latin text drawn from the Book of Proverbs. The words are a fatherly admonishment to a son, warning him not to neglect God's discipline. Instead, he is urged to accept correction, for the Lord disciplines all whom he receives. Antoine Brumel composed this motet in a style characteristic of the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries. It is a sacred work, offering a moment of reflective contemplation on divine love and guidance through its setting of this profound scriptural passage.
