Felice schiera

Felice schiera celebrates a company of virtuous spirits, whose constancy and strength will overcome envy and lead to victory. Giovan Nasco sets this uplifting Italian text for a large choir of six parts: two sopranos, two tenors and two basses (SATTBB). This secular madrigal from the Renaissance period makes full use of the various vocal combinations possible within its forces to create a rich and varied texture, embodying the triumph of virtue over adversity. The music would have been intended for private performance and enjoyment among educated amateurs.
