Factum est silentium

Factum est silentium opens with a hushed expectancy, as if the very air stills before a momentous event. Alessandro Grandi conjures a dramatic scene from the Apocalypse, setting Latin words that describe a great battle in heaven between the dragon and the Archangel Michael. The music reflects the text's narrative: a moment of profound silence is broken by the triumphant acclamations of thousands of thousands, singing praises to Almighty God. This SATB motet, filled with rich harmony and soaring lines, captures the awe and victory of the celestial conflict, culminating in a powerful 'Alleluia'.
