About Exultet Orbis

Francesco Cavalli's Exultet Orbis is a jubilant sacred motet for SATB choir singing in Latin. The music opens with a sense of exuberant celebration, an immediate reflection of the text's opening lines which call for the earth and heavens to rejoice in the glory of the apostles. The composer skillfully weaves the four voices together, creating a rich and resonant texture that conveys the solemnity and fervour of the petitionary sections. The choir implores the apostles, described as judges of the ages and lights of the world, to hear the pleas of the faithful and to grant release from sin and bestow virtue. The motet culminates in a doxology, praising the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
