Exsurge Domine

The words of Exsurge Domine, a Latin sacred work, call for divine intervention and deliverance. They echo ancient pleas, recounting God's past mighty deeds and proclaiming Him as King and Lord, who grants salvation. The text emphasizes trust in God, whose praise will be sung throughout all ages. This setting for SATB choir, likely intended for liturgical use, draws on the tradition of responsorial psalms, urging a powerful communal expression of faith and dependence on divine strength. The composer Claudio Macchi crafts a moving musical setting that aims to give voice to this profound supplication.
