Exaltare super caelos Deus

Guillaume Le Heurteur's motet Exaltare super caelos Deus is a powerful setting of selected verses from the Psalms, suitable for services of praise or thanksgiving. The Latin text implores God to exalt His glory above the heavens and the earth, seeking liberation for His beloved and salvation through His right hand. The demanding SSST voicing calls for four confident voices, ideal for a proficient choir. Le Heurteur's skillful contrapuntal writing weaves the scriptural pleas into a rich, resonant texture, culminating in a profound expression of reliance on divine aid over human efforts. This motet offers a compelling opportunity for a choir to explore Renaissance sacred polyphony with an impactful message of faith.
