Evening Service (Tone II)

Nathaniel Adam’s Evening Service (Tone II) is a substantial setting for SSAA and TTBB choirs of the traditional English Evening Canticles. It offers a rich and resonant sound world, suitable for use in cathedral or collegiate settings. The composer crafts a flowing musical narrative that explores the devotional texts with sensitivity. The divisi parts in both the women's and men's voices allow for a full, blended sonority, creating moments of both quiet contemplation and powerful declaration. This work provides an excellent opportunity for choirs to explore a more expansive and traditional Anglican choral style.
