Eucharist by Roger Petrich — Lyrics
For the bread, which you have broken;
for the wine, which you have poured;
for the words, which you have spoken,
now we give you thanks, O Lord.
By this promise that you love us,
by your gift of peace restored,
by your call to heaven above us,
hallow all our lives, O Lord.

About Eucharist
This anthem is ideal for the Communion setting, offering a prayer of thanksgiving and consecration. The text expresses gratitude for the sacramental elements and petitions for a life dedicated to God's service. It speaks of peace restored, God's call to a higher purpose, and the hope of joining the saints at heaven's table. The SAB voicing makes it accessible for a wide range of choirs, allowing the clear message of devotion and commitment to resonate. The music aims to support the lyrical plea for God's guidance and protection as the faithful are sent into the world to advance His kingdom.
