About Esurientes implevit bonis III
Orlando di Lasso’s setting of the Magnificat text is a powerful motet for two tenors. The composer vividly portrays the humble young woman chosen to bear the Christ Child, echoing her prophetic words of praise and thanksgiving. The music captures the exultation of her spirit and the awe-inspiring might of God, who scatters the proud and lifts the lowly.
